This 14-week course will cover a range of improvisational topics through two main lenses. Dr. Benjamin Cornelius-Bates will be covering chorale-style counterpoint by exploring historical forms such as the ornamented chorale and imitative forms. Dr. Ann Labounsky brings a breadth of experience and knowledge of the French style of improvisation and will cover freer forms such as the French toccata and plainsong improvisations.
