Richard Teaster received his Bachelors Degree in Voice Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, NC and his Masters Degree in Voice Performance from the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, Houston, TX. Mr. Teaster completed further studies at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Pittsburgh Opera Center. He currently is on the voice faculty of Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music and School of Drama. In addition, Mr. Teaster teaches private and class voice at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also directs the Pitt Men's Glee Club.
Previously Mr. Teaster served as Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Duquesne University, where he directed the Pappert Men's Chorale. He is also the founder and music director of the Steel City Men's Chorale, a Pittsburgh community-based choral ensemble.
